First Thursday (of Life)

The neighborhood I go to regularly for coffee and companionship comes alive on the first Thursdays of every month starting in May. This is the line at 10pm just inside the frozen custard shop next to my coffeehouse. Young parents, kids, and dogs of all sizes and colors spill out onto the brick sidewalks, licking or spooning custard treats. While, next door, the jazz quartet plays inside the coffeehouse. It's such a wonderful thing to experience on a cool-ish late spring night before the summer mugginess settles in.

I bought azaleas today. Planted 'em too. Hope they'll grow. Sent in my essay to Firefly Talk. Hope I win.

I never tire of people-watching. So much material there, ripe for a treatment.

What's your essay about?
