Tar and Feather Time

Is it just me, or is it getting increasingly ludicrous the number of people from the current Administration and GOP being being indicted or being cited for contempt or being called up on charges of illegal hiring practices or being convicted of bribes or of just generally caring *nothing at all* about this country and its people.

Not to mention the biggest crime of all. Okay, Iraq.

The latest NPR story about DoJ's Goodling being brought up on specific charges of asking politically-motivated questions as a method for screening candidates for non-political positions was the straw that snapped my back. I mean, my God, this woman was asking applicants about their stands on abortion and other hot-button issues. I mean, my God!

And where is Bush? What is he doing? What is he saying?

Not that, I, like, can stand to see him or listen to him, but he's had nothing to say about the economy or gas prices or the earthquake or the fires in California or the flooding in the midwest or the candidates or the bombings in China or the latest bombings in India or Baghdad.

He's already personna non grata. But he's doing it on his terms.

Uh-uh. He ain't gonna get away with it. We can't let him. At least not without a good coating of tar and feathers first.

Cry for justice, people. Cry for justice. (And I ain't making Congress blameless either, not with its 9 percent approval rating. Get to work for the people, people in Congress, or the people are gonna fight back.)

BSG with My Friend Alesia Again

Something's up with Gaeta. Jump!

Holy frak. What an episode.

Oh, and what the frak has happened to Oprah? She's gone way to the dark side. If I see one more second of another "favorite-things" type show with gussied-up women having Hannah-Montanna shriek fits over all the expensive useless materialistic crap they're going to get for free, I will just hang my head and weep ... for ten more minutes, because I've already been doing it for 15.

If an Oprah "Favorite Things" show isn't the absolute proof of what's wrong in our society, I don't know what is. What happened to shows with thoughtful discussions about global issues and responses to catastrophes in other countries and things that really matter? I'm so embarrassed.

Hey, "Look" Here "Folks"!

Hey. Politicians and pundits, we're not "folks." We're citizens. We're Americans. We're voters. We're not your "folks."  "Folks" connotes a familiarity you don't have with us. Honest. "Folks" is *too* colloquial and pandering and can sometimes imply a lack of sophistication. "Folks" does not necessarily engender respect. It implies that you "understand" me and you don't. Stop calling us "folks." Even you, Barack!

Hey. Politicans and pundits. Don't you think we know that, as soon as you say "Look," you're about to drop a line? You're about to drop a line, hook, and sinker. You're about to sugarcoat the truth or avoid it all together. You're about to, in many cases, lie. It's so obvious when you do it. Why do you keep doing it? Interviewers and moderators, why don't you call them on it? "Let me tell you" is right up there with "look." The obfuscating vocabulary of politicians. Even you, Barack!

"So look, folks" drops me to the floor entirely.
